Carron Chelsea 1 Column Cast Iron Radiators
The Chelsea cast iron radiator was originally commissioned for the officers mess at the Chelsea Barracks. The style dates from circa 1900. With its ornate detailing this radiator is elaborately decorated in relief patterns. It has a beautiful rounded top with acanthus-style leaf decoration which appears to gently fall over the sides and down into each column and over both ends. The bottom section, including the feet, replicates the pattern giving a look of stylish uniformity.
The Chelsea radiator comes with a grey primer finish, however, there is a vast range of RAL colours and finishes to choose from.
Antique finishes suit the Chelsea radiator extremely well. The finish is achieved by applying two coats of a light colour of your choice. A black polished is then applied to the entire radiator, this is then buffed off leaving traces of the black polishes in the nooks and crevices of the detailing. One of the most popular colour choices to have an antiqued finish is French Grey.
Hand-burnished finishes also provide a distinctive look. The radiator is hand polished back to the bare metal leaving a distinctive look that complements the elaborate detailing of the Chelsea.
Vintage copper is another popular finish. This finish is achieved by applying several coats of paint which contains copper particles. A final top coat is then applied giving the antiqued look.
